Ram Gopal Varma may have churned out a few flops over the years, but one can’t deny his expertise when it comes to directing crime dramas.
One of the more famous ones has been Sarkar, starring Amitabh and Abhishek Bachchan, which released in 2005.
The movie garnered a good collection at the box office, and its 2008 sequel, Sarkar Raj had a decent run. Eight years after Sarkar Raj, RGV has finally announced the film’s third instalment, Sarkar 3.
However, the director has made it clear that Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan will not be a part of this film. RGV took to his social media account to announce the movie.
Shroff, who has previously worked with the director in “Rangeela,” will play one of the main antagonists referred to as Sir in the movie.
Varmas “Satya” actor Bajpayee will be seen in the role of Govind Deshpande. The filmmaker said the character is a slightly violent version of Delhi Cheif Minister Arvind Kejriwal.
While Ronit plays right of hand of Sarkar, Gokul Satam, Amit will be seen portraying Shivaji aka Cheeku.
Character artist Dhabolkar, is playing Gorakh Rampur in the movie.
Yami will be seen as Annu Karkare, who wants to take revenge from Sarkar for killing her father.
Bachchan will reprise his role as Subhash Nagre.
The shooting will begin this year in Mumbai and abroad. It would be for the first time after Vidhu Vinod Chopras “Eklavya” that Big B and Jackie would be teaming up for a film.
“Jackie plays one of the main antagonists in ‘Sarkar 3’. He plays a character referred to as Sir,” Varma wrote.
He also confirmed that “Sarkar 3” will witness the return of Amitabh Bachchan as the dreaded don, Subhash Nagre, but added that both Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, who were part of “Sarkar Raj”, won’t feature in the third part.
He also revealed that actors Manoj Bajpayee, Yami Gautham, Amit Sadh, Ronit Roy, Rohini Hattangadi and Bharat Dabholkar are part of the film.
