Ramya Krishnan is an Indian film actress whose film credits span across all major film industries in South India and Bollywood. She made her acting debut with the Malayalam movie Neram Pularumbol, and has since appeared in over 200 films in the course of a career spanning over three decades.

Early Life

Ramya Krishnan was born on 15th September 1970 in Chennai, Tamilnadu, India. She was a famous an Indian film actress in South Indian Languages. She was appeared in around 200 films in many languages such as Malayalam, Tamil, Kannada, Hindi and Telugu. She was an extraordinary actress for her amazing performances in various films. She has played many roles as a glamorous-girl, a good caring wife, a dedicated mom and even god roles.

Ramya Krishnan was raised in Chennai, Tamilnadu, India. She was the niece of veteran Tamil comedian Cho Ramaswamy. Ramya Krishna was primarily trained in Bharathanatyam, Kuchipudi and Western dances and she has done lot of stage performances. Ramya Krishnan has a one sister name is Vinaya Krishnan. She was married famous Telugu film director Krishna Vamsi on 12th June 2003. Ramya Krishna and Krishna Vamsi have one son name is Ritwik.



During the age of 13 years Ramya Krishnan has started her career for the Malayalam film Neram Pularumbol with the starring lead roles as Mammootty and Mohanlal in the film. At that time this film is delayed to release and finally released in 1986 but her first released Tamil film is Vellai Manasu in 1985 and Ramya Krishnan shared screen along with actor Y. G. Mahendra.

Ramya Krishnan was well recognized for the God roles in Telugu and Tamil movies, her most notable God films are Ammoru in Telugu, Amman in Tamil, Raja Kaliamman, Sree Raja Rajaeshwari, Annai Kaligambal, Kutty Pisasu and Madurai Meenatchi. Later she was played the many roles in Kannada films such as Krishna Rukmini Gadibidi Ganda, Mangalyam Thanthunanaena and Raktha Kanneeru.

Later Ramya Krishnan was performed in the Tamil film Padayappa, in this film she was played the jealous rich girl antiroll named as Neelambari starred with Rajinikanth and she got lot of appreciations for her antiroll in the film. Padayappa Tamil film is also released in Japan, Singapore, London and Paris in 1999. After that film Ramya Krishnan was played roles in the films such as Panchathantiram along starred with Kamal Hassan, Paattali and Paarai starred with Sarathkumar, Vaanjinathan starred with Vijaykanth, Budget Pathmanaban and Aayiram Poi Solli starred with Prabhu, and Asathal starred with Satyaraj. Ramya Krishnan was also performed item songs in the films Rhythm and Kuthu and in Bollywood films such as Khalnayak and Dayavan.

Ramya Krishnan’s first debuted Telugu film is Bhale Mithrulu in 1986.  Later got the major break through the Kasinadhuni Viswanath’s Telugu film is Sutradharulu in the year 1987.  During at years 80s and 90s Ramya Krishnan has one of the popular actresses in the Telugu film industry alongside Radha, Banupriya, Vijayashanti, Meena and Soundarya. Ramya Krishnan was almost acted with famous actors such as N. T. Rama Rao, Akkineni Nageswara Rao, Krishna, Chiranjeevi, Nagarjuna, Venkatesh, Balakrishna, Jagapati Babu, Rajendra Prasad, Srikanth, Rajasekhar, Junior NTR, and Mahesh Babu.

Ramya Krishnan was got two prominent Nandi Awards from Government of Andhra Pradesh and a National Award from Indian Government. She was received the Special Jury award for her outstanding performance in Dasari Narayana Rao’s Telugu film is Kante Koothurne Kanu from Andhra Pradesh state government. Her popular Kannada hits consist of the films such as Gadibidi Ganda and Mangalyam Thanthunanaena starred with V. Ravichandran and Raktha Kanneeru starred with Upendra. Ramya Krishnan was played more than 25 Malayalam films along with superstars are Mohanlal, Mammootty, and Jayaram and she was got appreciations for her role in the Malayalam movie Ore Kadal in 2007.

Ramya krishnan has represented as a multi talented actress with variations of graceful, action-centric, glamorous, villainous and divine characters and she was mostly suitable for the roles as a beautiful modern girl, struggling wife, most caring wife and powerful goddess.

Ramya krishnan was conducted some stage performances in New York, Dallas, San Jose, and Cincinnati. She was started own company in the name of her son Ritwik and she was presently hosting the entertainment show Zara Masti Zara Dhoom.

Ramya krishnan was a judge in a television dancing show on STAR Vijay: Jodi Number One, season 1 up to season 5. Ramya krishnan acted female lead roles in several SunTV serials such as Kalasam, Thangam, Rajakumari and Vamsam.

Ramya krishnan’s recent biggest successful film is Baahubali: The Beginning, in which she was played the role as Shivagami the Rajamata and the caretaker of King Bahubali. For this Shivagami role she was well performed in the film and it is one her most notable role in the films. She was got lot of appreciations for her outstanding performances in the Baahubali: The Beginning film.

Ramya Krishnan was presently worked for the films such as  Baahubali: The Conclusion, Soggade Chinni Nayana and Mama Manchu, Alludu Kanchu. In the film Baahubali: The Conclusion she was played a role as Shivagami the Rajamata and the caretaker of King Bahubali. In the film Soggade Chinni Nayana she was played the role starring with actor King Nagarjuna as aged couple. In the film Mama Manchu, Alludu Kanchu, she was played the very important role sharing screen with actor Allari Naresh.
